The Red River Watershed Association The Red River Watershed Association of Tennessee and Kentucky is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing and protecting the quality and quantity of water in the creeks and streams of our area through activities that educate, promote community cooperation, and encourage responsible stewardship. The total area of the Red River Watershed covers about 1,482 square miles and 10 counties in Kentucky and Tennessee, including Sumner and Robertson Counties where White House is. It contains about 1,500 total miles of streams and is recognized by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency as being a significant catfish, bass, bluegill, and crappie fishery. The Cumberland River Compact The mission of the Cumberland River Compact is to enhance the water quality of the Cumberland River and its tributaries through education and by promoting cooperation among citizens, businesses, and agencies in Kentucky and Tennessee. The Cumberland River is 697 miles long. The watershed covers 18,000 square miles and is home to almost 2 million people. Since 1997, the Compact has set out to create a Watershed Outreach Program in each of the 14 watersheds that make up the Cumberland Basin.
